Brownie is 5--No, Really! She is!

I simply can't believe it. To know that I now have two children who are 5 or older just boggles my mind. That seems so grown up--which I am not! HA! But really, I just can't believe it was five years ago that I went to the hospital praying for a dark-haired beauty (I just knew she was one) to be born safe and healthy.
And she was--all 8 pounds 15 ounces of her. She was plump, pink and absolutely precious.
It's odd that she was my biggest baby, yet she was my easiest labor and delivery. I remember laughing, joking and playing games between contractions. With all my other kiddos, I had to breathe and focus between contractions. Her induction was also the only one which I didn't have to do overnight. I got to go in first thing in the morning and welcome her just 10 hours later--all my other babies have taken 24 hours-ish.
My Brownie girl is so special to me.
She's as gorgeous on the outside as she is on the outside. Her dark brown eyes are as big as her heart-- and I love seeing just how big her heart is every time she helps or loves on a sister. She enjoys making other people happy by doing thoughtful things for them.
She is also quite kinestheticly (it's sort of a word) inclined! She has total awareness and control of her body. She's a little dancer who dances her heart out any chance she gets. And she has a knack for remembering all the steps in her routines. I fall in love with dance all over again just by watching her enjoy it!

And my oh my, can this sweet little girl kick some soccer balls! She's tough on the field. She just scored 10, yes TEN, goals. I couldn't believe it. My heart swells with pride as I watch her beam after each score. Sometimes she looks back at us with a look on her face like "did you see that one?" and sometimes she just turns around and heads right back to her line up for kick off. What a confidence booster for her!
And yes, she is still a fashionista! She has really grown into her personality.
This time last year I didn't know for sure if she was experimenting with all this "style" stuff. But now I know that this is who my sweet girl is. One of my favorite things is when she gets her clothes ready for the next day. She lays out everything (yes, everything) from the shoes, tights/pants/skirt, shirt, jewelry, and headband--there is always a headband. Brownie wears a headband at all times--during school, recess, dinner, ballet, soccer games and even sleep. I swear when this girl is in labor someday she'll be dressed in the fanciest gown with jewelry and  a headband on (except she swears she is not having any babies).
Along the same lines, she still loves drawing and any art for that matter. Just like you'll always find a headband on her head, you'll also always find a pad of paper and a pen/marker/pencil/crayon in her hands. And she is really good, too. One of my favorite pieces so far is a scene from Rio, the movie. It looked like a 10 year old drew it. There was a blue bird, a tree, and many other details.

Sweet Brownie Girl, I love you more than words. You make my world so happy just by being you. I have truly enjoyed watching you grow and learn. And all the neat things you do just makes me so proud of you. I can't imagine living life without you. Sometimes, I actually think you hung the moon (especially on the nights when it looks juuuust right!) When I think of you, I think blessed! That's how you make me feel. Thank you for showing me who you are--because I simply adore you--wonderful, perfect, you! Happy Birthday to my new 5 year old! Mama will always love you!
