Since Being a Family of Seven

Despite welcoming our baby home what seems like just a couple days ago (but it's been two weeks now), we haven't really slowed down all that much! I'll be the first to admit that I'm not quite up to my normal pace of life, but the last three days have been a little different. Why you ask? Because my awesome husband actually had to go back to work :-( And yes, this means I've been doing my normal routine since Wednesday.

I was initially kind of intimidated imagining what it would be like trying to juggle the demands of a newborn with the responsibilities that come along with 4 other kiddos ages 2-5, but a lot of what I was worried about hasn't happened. There have been some moments where Boushka is extra needy and whiney, but even those moments weren't as terrible as I imagined. Thank goodness!!!

My husband was off for two solid weeks, and I loved every minute of it. He took over several of my daily duties so that I could focus my attention on meeting Little K's needs. I've also been dealing with some health issues similar to those I experienced after Boushka's birth, and it slowed me down significantly those first couple weeks-- with week 1 being much worse than week 2. And now that we've nearly met the three-week-old mark, I'm almost back to normal. I'm not having to take any more pain meds, my "failing heart" symptoms have nearly disappeared, and I'm getting decent sleep in the night. When these three things combine we all get a happier, healthier and more efficient mommy/wife. That being said, here's a recap of our life since our precious new addition was brought home...

~5 doctor visits
~4 ballet classes
~2 soccer practices
~1 soccer game (and one rain out)
~2 playdates
~4 stops for coffee
~2 trips to the park
~2 snacks/dinners out with a friend
~1 photo session for Little K
~12 loads of laundry
~4 baby baths
~5 (soon to be 6) trips to the stores
~1 visit to MOPS
~1 date night with my husband (this was his V-day present to me that he scheduled before Little K came)
~1 St. Patrick's Day Celebration

AND and few...

... minutes here and there on the playmat

... missed naps (that then meant a little one passed out in an interesting place)

(Oh, but this one hasn't missed a nap!)

AND several hours...

...playing outside
...holding Little K while she sleeps
...driving my kids around town
...nursing Little K

AND...

...several friends and family stopping by to visit and/or bring a meal!

And let's not forget that we're about to watch several hours of basketball! Little K has already sported her little dress and matching hat set that my mom bought her to cheer on KU in the big tourney! No, she didn't buy daddy's KU hat to match!

And we have even more plans this weekend that include more ballet, a hair cut (for me... yeah!), a wedding, and a birthday party. And obviously more basketball. And I'm going to try my darnedest to get our hineys to church on Sunday! And I'm sure you can add our normal, long list of chores--- because you know that laundry just never stops!
