Happy Birthday to the cutest 8 year old in the world!
Well, I blogged about my girl, Peach, turning eight, but I didn't blog
about her actual party. And since we are in the middle of birthday
season in our family, I think most of my upcoming posts will either be sappy stuff from my mommy heart or all about birthday parties!
Grandma came to the rescue with this delicious cake. Even though the only egg and gluten allergies at the party were within my own family (and not even the birthday girl), we still had an egg and gluten free cake because... well, it's just so incredibly tasty. It's dense--like a brownie--and I think all the kiddos take after me in the fact that we like dense and moist cakes as opposed to light and fluffy cakes. But anyway, we all know that my girl loves soccer--so here is how she wanted to decorate her cake-- owls and soccer balls, daisies and balloons. And lots of color!
She had an American Girl tea party. We had pizza, we decorated sugar cookies with frosting and fruit to make fruit pizzas, we made scarves for our dolls, and we totally rocked the slumber party. Peach really has the sweetest friends, and I am so happy that she has been blessed with friends who are kind.
Here she is opening her gifts. She received such thoughtful gifts--like I said, these girls are just so sweet.
Peach learned how to knit without a needle over the summer during a class she took at a VBS, so she was able to teach her skill to the girls at the party. Brownie learned this skill too, so she was able to help as well. This is how they made their doll scarves.
Each girl got to pick out her own yarn. Auntie and I helped too!
Fruit pizza time! Everyone looks so intense here--frosting cookies is serious business!
The girls could choose among strawberries, kiwi, pineapple, and blueberries. We ate the left over fruit for breakfast in the morning!
One of the most genuine, loving, and thoughtful eight year olds I know--okay, one of the most genuine, loving, and thoughtful people I know!
The girls did incredibly well with the sleepover. They all slept downstairs. There was no bickering, tears, or drama of any kind. Those girls are such dolls! We had bacon, hash browns, chocolate chip pancakes, and of course the delish fruit for breakfast. All per Peach's request.
Usually on our children's birthdays, we start their day off with a little goodie bag full of small gifts they would like. But since Peach woke up with all her friends on her actual birthday, we did her little gift bag later in the day. Here she is with her new book about the American Girl, Saige Copeland (who happens to have red hair and freckles, too).
And a few sweet treats!
I'm so happy we can throw a party to celebrate one of the best kids in the whole world. She does so much to help her family, she's a super student, a rock-star athlete, and a kind friend--she deserves to have fun with her friends. I'm so proud of her--and I am looking forward to the next eight (plus) years. I know she'll do amazing things!
