Brownie's Birthday

Our sweet girl turned six a couple weeks ago. We have yet to have a party with friends (due to a new baby, two other birthdays, soccer games, Nutcracker rehearsals), but that is in the works. We did celebrate with our little family on her birthday--actually, we were so busy on her actual birthday that we celebrated the next night. She got her little baggie of goodies, a gift card for a pedi, and a gift card for shopping at Toys R Us. She requested mac n' cheese for dinner--and I threw in some homemade chicken strips for a little protein.

I think she appreciated the gifts--I think the pictures say so at least.

She was all smiles on her way to school that day. I found this little ribbon for her to wear to school--she wore it proudly.

And despite the craziness of the day, I found a second to take a picture of the two of us real quick before school started.
On her birthday, Daddy and I got to go to Brownie's school and do her Star of the Week presentation. We reviewed her pictures, read her favorite story about the "Old Woman who swallowed" stuff, went over her favorites (food: pizza, toy: Barbie, What she wants to be: vet and mom). She then got to share her treats. She, like big sister, requested M&M cookies to share with her classmates. They all seemed to enjoy them!

Here she is getting ready to pass out her cookies.

And look at that sweet smile (and her big sister shirt). She kind of liked that crown, too!

And on a pretty much unrelated note, she got to go to the doctor with baby brother, mom and dad. In a big family, anytime you get to be one of two kids along for an errand--it's a big deal. And the fact that she got to be the big sibling for her new baby--that was pretty awesome for her.

We sure do love you, Brownie. You have been ours for six wonderful years. I still remember the day I found out you were going to be joining our family--I was so excited. Excited to see if you'd be a boy or a girl. Whose eyes you'd have. What your favorite toy would be. What your favorite subject in school would be. What you'd be when you grew up. And as the years have gone on, your beauty has been revealed to us, and it continues to be all the time. I still love discovering who you are and what your interests are. You are a precious girl with a heart for others. You have gorgeous, big brown eyes. Your favorite toy is Barbie. I'm pretty sure your favorite subject is anything that has to do with drawing. And as for what you'd be when you grow up--we shall see.

You are the most perfect you there could ever be because you are the only you there will ever be. I'm so honored to be your mama--on the easy days and on the hard days. I love being your source for comfort, a hug when you want one, a kiss that eases your mind, and a hand that wipes your tears. I will always be somebody who shares your joys, triumphs, losses, and your everyday life. And no matter what life has in store for us, nothing will ever change the fact that I'm your mama and you're my baby. Hugs and Kisses!
