I'm starting with Saturday for our Easter post(s). This will be brief because I'm supposed to be grading papers (not to mention that I'm also a couple of weeks behind on other happenings).
Anyway, we woke up to a normal Saturday--except Peach wasn't here. She had her first ever sleepover at a non-relatives house. She (and I--okay actually our whole fam damily) loves this girl. The two get along famously, and they obviously adore each other. So cute. Anyway, I ran some errands before lunch and came home to another child gone--Miss Bug. She was off getting her pre-approved haircut with my mom. Notice her curls in the pictures that follow.
After having lunch and getting her hair done, Peach came home and Bug came back home withAuntie and Grandma. I asked them to stay for fajita night, and then we dyed our Easter eggs.
This girl loved carrying around an empty basket. She thinks it's a purse. But this kept her busy while we noisly noshed on our chicken and veggie filled tortillas--with homemade guac to boot (don't worry, she ate right before we did simply because she could smell the food cooking)! We also had lemonade, but I wanted to try adding something. The only thing I had was grenadine (so healthy, ha), so we tried it. I poured in more than I thought it would take, but the taste was quite delish. We decided to sell the drink this summer at our garage sale--so you know if it made it past the testing team, it must be good (SMILE)!
Oh yeah, Grandma brought Easter cookies over. We've been getting cookies from Aunt T for quite some time, and they are the absolute best. I should've taken a close up picture--but trust me on how tasty they are.
Showing off her curls and her dyed egg!
Brownie was unwrapping the cookie goodness. Of course, they didn't get to eat their cookies until appropriate amounts of dinner had been consumed.
"Cookies, please!"
After diner and cookies, we dyed our eggs.
Trusty vinegar, dye tabs and an empty egg carton says it all.
The whole crew gathered at the island to start the coloring process.
Nice and white--but not for long. These girls loved to discover new colors combos they could create. Of course, our dye tabs weren't the best quality--they were left overs from last year. Despite the difficulty in coloring, the girls had fun. That's all that counts, right?!
The dye kit was princess themed--so nothing else mattered.
Auntie sure can photo-bomb any picture.
Freshly-bathed Boushka getting help with her eggs.
We decided to forget about the egg holder thingy and use spoons. They did work better!
After egg-dying I begged my children to hit the hay. And they did. And eventually I did--but not until after I fell asleep on the couch while trying so desperately to stay awake during SNL!
