January in Review

Soooo, now I need to cover some weeks that have flown by thus far this year!

Bug got new glasses. YAY! Her Rx went down just a bit. And she looks super cute in her new specs.

 January started off with some snow. Brownie was adamant about making a snowman.

 We didn't have a lot of snow, but she made do. What? Haven't you ever seen broccoli used for snowman's eyes?

 Well, now she thinks this is what people normally use. My poor kids.

Brownie started her first round of gymnastics. And on her first attempt at climbing the rope, she made it all the way to the top. In this picture, you see Peach climbing the rope...she was so close to making it to the top, as well. 

Brownie had some appointments at Children's Mercy with an endocrinologist and her GI doctor. She met her deductible the day after we started our new insurance. Poor girl. I keep telling her "we'll get these things figured out." At least we won't need to see an endocrinologist anymore... it was a fluke.

 We are in the process of weaning her off her meds. We are starting with the pentasa. We recently went from 3 a day down to 2 a day. Well, that went well, so now we are down to 1 a day. There's been a few belly aches, so we might need to go back up. If she doesn't wean well, we will have to rescope her this summer. I hate that, but at the same time I'm very thankful there are procedures to help us monitor her progress. I just never will be okay with having any of my babies "go under." Not my favorite thing--waiting that out.

Little man turned four months. He was 15lbs and 25inches at his appointment. He's hanging out right smack dab in the middle of the growth charts!

 Peach, Brownie, and Bug all had their 100th day of school recently. Peach's class got the chance to dress up like they are 100 years old. This was our idea of what she'd look like.

I got to go to Boushka's guest day at school. We painted using colored ice pops. We played a version of ice hockey. And then I got to take the preschoolers out to lunch at our fav--Jason's Deli.

 Daddy made his second trip to NC since starting his new job in December. We survived at home without him for 4 days. We do, however, love FaceTime!

Peach and Brownie's Girl Scout troop visited some veterans to donate cookies through our cookie share program. They sang "God Bless America" and handed out some yummy Girl Scout cookies to deserving men and women.

Little Scrunchie started doing this pose when anybody brings out the camera. Love that face!

And of course little dude is still having some serious skin issues. He scratches and scratches and makes himself bleed. We have to resort to putting his little paws in socks while he sleeps. We started some new ointments, lotions, and washes. Also, recently we added hydrocortisone. It's helping.

 Okay, that mostly covers January! I'll be moving on to February, Keian's 5 month post, and here soon, little Scrunchie's 2 year post!

My baby

On January 6th, this is what happened in my little man's life..

He was just too big to sleep in his bassinett in our room. So I made the tough decision...

... to have Matt set up the crib in Karys' room...

... so he could sleep in there.

He's a belly sleeper for sure! We have the AngelCare monitor, so I can rest peacefully while he does the same thing.

I tucked him in that night, and we haven't looked back.

Believe it or not, sharing a room with big sis has turned out pretty well. I was a little worried they'd wake each other up, but that really hasn't happened (yet)!

New Years Eve

2012 came to an end (yeah, I know it was nearly two months ago). What a wonderful year. Seven full years after we started growing our family, we completed it with the sweetest little boy. Matt started a new job. Boushka started preschool. Brownie started kindergarten. Peach can really read and started gymnastics. Bug started playing soccer and coming out of her shell around schoolmates. Scrunchie went from crawling to walking, to talking, to screaming, to just plain being crazy! And I had my last pregnancy.

On NYE, we geared up for fun. We invited the kids to put on their best dress, and we had a dance party in the living room. Then we made treats to snack on and rang in the new year with sparkling juice.

We had homemade guacamole, taco cups, hush puppies, pizza bites, and orange-cranberry muffins. The food was so yummy! The company was divine.

 Before we had our dance party, we did finally get around to making our ornaments for the year.

We put the Christams wish list and a picture each kiddo in a clear bulb. They were a little simple, I suppose, but we kind of need that in this stage of life.

I am so thankful to share every year with these people. I'm so blessed to call them family!

Hunk is 4 Monhts

Okay, he's almost 5 months now, but back when he turned four months I should've made this post.

Hunk is super adorable and steal my heart multiple times per day. He really is a pretty happy baby. He loves to be around people. He falls asleep in the carrier--daddy always carries him around--it's pretty sweet. He is still on breast milk and a little formula when needed. He sleeps great--10-12 hours at night and some cat naps thrown in. At his appointment he weighed 15lbs even. His height was right at 50 percentile for a 4 month old, but I can't remember it off the top of my head. His 3-6 month clothes are becoming a little snug, but he can still wear them. And he's about to outgrow size two diapers.

The sad thing about our Bo-Bo is his skin. It is so sensitive. I'm not sure what causes it to get so rough, but it's so awful--you could nearly file your nail on it. So sad for him. We even had to start putting socks on his hands at night because he scratches so much in his sleep that he breaks his skin open. I've got him on some new shampoo and lotion/ointment. It keeps him moisturized, but it seems to me he must have an allergy in addition to really dry skin.
